Tara Reid in Playboy? Really?

I was doing a search for magazine covers for another blog post when this turned up in the results:

Trust me, I was not looking for anything even remotely related to Tara Reid. And the only reason Playboy was related was because it’s a magazine.

Nevertheless, I was shocked and appalled. (And threw up in my mouth) (Just a little)

This is 2010, people! Does anyone really want to see what Tara Reid naked in 2010 looks like? I mean, how much is Playboy going to spend on airbrushing just to make her look presentable?

Oh, and in case you were wondering, this is just a really abstract post about the decline of magazine publishing industry. Think about it.

The Really?!? Weather Edition

I mean, yeah, it’s probably worse in other places than in Chicago, but honestly (as a boy from Portland, Oregon), I don’t think I’ve ever seen this much snow on the ground ever in my life. I mean, really? Really, Chicago weather? Really?!?

We’ve only got 20 more inches (decreasing every time I look outside) to go before we match last season’s snowfall output, and that was a “once every 30-40 years” kind of snowfall. Okay, maybe not that extreme (since the 60’s and 70’s were really bad for snow and Chicago). But if we’re heading for another period like that, I’m going to be about to pitch a fit.

I guess part of my issue right now is the amount of snow actually on the ground. It seems like last year, we at least had some warm-up periods where all or some of the snow would disappear. The past two weeks have been cold enough that the snow hasn’t dissipated at all. So, when that 2-5 inches came last night (and continues to come today), it’s not just like a 2-5 inch snow that you might actually see in Portland. It’s 2-5 inches on the places you’ve already shoveled, but it’s up to close to 2 feet in the unshoveled areas, and even higher when you’ve got the displaced snow on top of the original snow.

Make Some Illinoise!

A meteorologist (who will remain anonymous) on Good Morning America (sort of a national news program) just said that Hurricane Ike may even get up to Illinoise. Really? I mean, really?

I wonder what the weather is like in Oregone.

Really?

Beat 1732: A resident reported that on the 3700 block of St. Louis there is a parked car in the alley that has been sitting there for two years.

Really? Do the people over on St. Louis have such monstrously wide alleys that they don’t mind having a car parked in them for a year or two? I know my alley is certainly not wide enough that it wouldn’t start to bother me after, I don’t know, a year, maybe?
