Eric Nylund points to a post by John Scalzi in which they both discuss why “new” novelists are generally kind of old. Nylund says he didn’t start writing until he was 27, which makes me feel a whole heck of a lot better. At least with writing, you don’t have to be young and pretty (although I’m sure it doesn’t hurt). Now I just need to work on the actual output component of my writing.
